Light Rail is the today’s term for Trams.
The British government needed to solve Colombo’s transport problems more efficiently and introduced tramcars and the trolley buses. The tramcar system was introduced in many countries along with Ceylon in the beginning of the 20th century.
During early days Trams carried over 6.5 million passengers a year.

The more vehicles on the roads (cars, three-wheelers and motorcycles and not buses), the bigger the impact on the economy!
