iX Goes Production

BMW’s flagship EV, a Tesla Model X contender goes into production at the Dingolfing plant in Germany. The big grilled SUV will be available through the dealers from Europe, China USA towards the end of 2021 to 2022.

Delivering value over X5

Almost the same size as the X5 but built on a different frame iX, will be just 1 inch wider than the X5. The iX will available with a starting price of 85,000 $, which will be cheaper in some destinations than the XD due to varying tax structures and rebates.

Two models will be launched initially: iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50. Beating the price parity in the German market, the price of the BMW iX ( parameter丨picture ) model is slightly lower than the local BMW X5 model its been estimated.

The Features

BMW iX* introduces a multitude of innovations to the product and production processes at the plant, especially in the vehicle’s electrical system architecture, software, digital services, connectivity, and automated driving functions. As a result, the vehicle plays an important role as a trailblazer and is making Dingolfing “e-car” and “smart-car ready” as the BMW Group’s primary plant for the luxury class.

iX xDrive40 and iX xDrive50 will be the first global car models with 5G interconnect technology of high-end models and the first application of Gigabit Ethernet technology.

The innovative BMW iX has a cruising range of up to 630 kilometers (WLTP) and minimum energy consumption of 19.4 kWh per 100 kilometers. The dual-motor drive system brings a maximum output of 385 kW and accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers in 4.6 seconds. Two models will be launched initially, BMW iX xDrive40 and BMW iX xDrive50.

The Factory

The BMW Group has invested a total of more than 400 million euros in producing the BMW iX* at the Dingolfing vehicle plant. Many of the remodeling and structural measures required for the BMW iX* are already benefiting future generations of the BMW 7 Series and 5 Series that will come off the production line in Dingolfing in the coming years. Fully electric variants have also been announced for both model ranges.
